An emergency debate regarding drug shortages took place in the House of Commons on Monday March 12, 2012.

The BMC and other patient organizations have endorsed a set of health care transformation principles as developed by the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) and the Canadian Nurses Assocation (CNA).

Toronto (May 31, 2011) Today, the Health Council of Canada releases Progress Report 2011: Health care renewal in Canada, which provides a pan-Canadian view on key government commitments in the 2003 First Ministers' Accord on Health Care Renewal and the 2004 10-Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care.

The week of April 4, 2011 the Globe & Mail ran extensive coverage on Canadian drug access issues in a series entitled Time to Lead, exploring catastrophic drug coverage, rare disease issues and international comparisons.   The series opened with Andre Picard's article "The Cost of Drugs: Breaking the Bank to Stay Alive", featuring interviews with Dr. Katharina Kovacs-Burns and Linda Wilhelm of the Best Medicines Coalition's Operating Committee, along with other compelling patient stories.
