Ottawa –July 21, 2006. In an open letter to Premiers prior to the Council of Federation meeting this week, the Coalition for a Canadian Pharmaceutical Strategy released its Framework for a Canadian Pharmaceutical Strategy.

The framework outlines the elements necessary to create a national pharmaceutical strategy that will help ensure timely access to safe, effective and affordable prescription drugs for all Canadians.

The coalition brings together five organizations – the Best Medicines Coalition, Canadian Medical Association, Canadian Nurses Association, Canadian Pharmacists Association and Canadian Healthcare Association—representing patients, health professionals, health system managers and trustees.
